Shen is commonly translated as ‘mind’ or ‘spirit’, but rather than being something mystical, consider it more as a quality of your inner life. When your Shen is struggling

Life has a way of unsettling the Shen. Whether it be chronic stress, grief, hormonal shifts, years of burning the candle at both ends. Sound familiar? Here’s what a disturbed Shen can look like:

  • Anxiety or restlessness - a low hum or worry that just can’t quite be switched off

  • Insomnia -lying awake staring at the ceiling for no good reason, or replaying conversations in your head on loop

  • Heart palpitations - that unsettling thumping in your chest or racing heartbeat when things get too much

  • Brain fog - walking into rooms and having no recollection as to why you’re even there!

  • Emotional overwhelm - crying at the drop of a hat, snapping at loved ones and feeling…emotionally raw

  • Cycle changes - irregular periods or spotting, particularly when faced with prolonged stress
